Another what is it

A friend just purchased an old rolling block military carbine. Caliber is unknown.As a matter of fact there are no markings on it at all.  Bore measures .446 Any ideas as to what it could be? 43 Spanish or Egyptian round of some sort?

I have tried but just can't do pictures here. If you don't mind a PM with your phone number I can send you one. It is a typical military carbine with the high hammer and a sliding bar extractor. Bout all I can say about it.
