.22 RF Rolling Block No.2. L or LR ?

I have an early Remington No.2 Rolling Block (thin blade extractor) that is marked " 22 CTGL" on the bottom of the barrel.  Looking through Roy Marcot's fine book on rollers, early ads indicate the rifle being chambered in .22 RF, but doesn't indicate Long or Long Rifle.  I know the cartridges can be interchangeable, but I believe the rifling was different between the the two.  Were early No.2's set up for LR cartridges?
Mike.

Your rifle was made late 1872 - 1873. The .22 long rifle cartridge was introduced in 1884. Unless its been modified, it is likely chambered in .22 long.
