W. W. Greenen rifles

I've shot muzzle loaders for years and got interested the old cartridge rifles, but have only shot them locally.  Recently a friend sent me a notice about a 22 silhouette shoot and it interested me.  But I don't have a suitable rifle.  So the search begins, and I started by joining the ASSRA.
I’ve seen several W.W. Greenen’s and I like their looks.  BUT they don’t have exposed hammers which was a requirement in the notice which also says BPCRO rules apply.  Apparently the ASSRA follows the NRA rules for BPCR and they allow Peabody rifles.  Now my research, so far, indicates that Greenen used modified Martini actions which were similar to Peabody.  Following my own rule that the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked -  So are Greenen’s allowed?

A W W Greenen happens to be a fake W W Greener;-) But, either way, those small Martinis are fine shooters but without a hammer they aren't allowed. The "must have a hammer thing" gets a lot of feedback especially among those folks with 1878 Sharps Borchardts! But, that is the way it is and there are many fine single shot 22s with hammers, both original and modern copies. At the low end, a Stevens Favorite would be legit but perhaps not extremely competitive. Hey, it's all fun!

I wasn't kidding, people have piggy backed on the quality of WW Greener by making imitations and marking the quick look alike W W Greenen much as many cheap shotguns were labeled W Richards hoping to be mistaken for Westley Richards.

you might consider a 1885 Winder or Stevens 414, if you like the looks of  muzzle loader.  lots of other good choices too. My model 37 is a turn bolt gun, so no go.

Can a .22 schuetzen rifle with a hammer be used in a .22 silhouette match?

Where can the rules be found?

Thanks, Jack.

Looks like a .22 liner for a BPCRS rifle is the easiest route.

A Ballard would be excellent choice as the buttstocks are easy to swap.

W, Richard shotguns are not cheap imitations of Westley Richards. W. Richards was a big retailer in Liverpool and sold guns mostly made by the Birmingham trade----some not so good, but some very good indeed.

The one I have must be one of the "not so goods". My intention way back when I got it for $5 was to make a 45 caliber muzzle loading double using a long 45-70 barrel cut in half and sleeved into the stubs. Probably still kicking around in the junk some where.
