Well, I finally figured out what an avatar was.  Those little pictures on the left side.  I thought it was an expensive Studebaker.  Who is Mr. Beery?

All that other stuff about servers, searches, & programs might as well be in Chinese.

Forbidden!  That's a new one.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna shoot my Eric Johnson Ballard at 200.

It would seem to me that the most helpful location to post changes to the website would be, along with the current choice, to be where most would see it, that being general discussion. This is not a criticism of the choice made, merely a suggestion of a different and possibly better added choice. Part of the problem being that the assumption is often made that all here are quite adept at computer manipulation and practice. Some, like myself, think that assumption is contrary to the attempt to somehow simplify our lives with the use of computers. Only time will tell how beneficial that use will ultimately be.

I hate to appear as the Grinch, but, the Single Shot Association home page rifle being shot appears to have an awfully long magazine tube?

That’s actually a stabilizer tube.

It’s filled with mercury to add weight and dampen recoil. It was a rare Pope accessory found mostly on Creedmore rifles chambered in 22 short.

Gents,

Just in case anyone else is having the same problem and doesn't know where to turn.  I keep getting the ASSRA page with either a 404 "Page doesn't exist" or "The page you are looking for cannot be found" warning.  After clicking on the "Forum" button, I could get into the forum with the acknowledgement "Good morning Hayface".  But that is as far as I could go.  Click on anything after that and I suddenly became a guest with limited access and the inability to post, see the pretty pictures, ask questions, etc.

Somehow I gleaned Josh's email address from the site and he sent me a link to change my password.  I was able to Login, but only by using my email address.  It doesn't recognize me as Hayface.  And I didn't even trim!

Thought it might help some other frustrated old geezer who doesn't get along well with these confusing devices and may be having the same issues since the change.

One thing to do is to clean your Browser's history.
Your browser does not always go straight to the actual xyz.com page you are  clicking on. Most of the time it looks for the most recent xyz.com  visit in your browser history.

When our website change happened, most of our browsers were pointing to our assra.com link in our browser cache not the new assra.com file on a new system.  even though the web address stayed the same, the mystic arts inside the address changed.  I don't know how it works.

I have a couple  apps that I run  to clean up files and histories, if you don't know how to , Google "how to clean up your browser"  it will depend on which Browser you use.

Hope that helps.

Gents,

Yesterday, I could get on using an old link but always got the 404 page, so I cleared my browser, history, links, and downloads and I'm still having problems.  I haven't the faintest idea why the site suddenly popped up now with that 404 page, but I'm taking advantage of the connection.  If I try to get on by searching for ASSRA.com, when the page opens (Guy wearing black fleece hoodie and beany, shooting what appears to be a modern air rifle!  What?) I can't go any farther because none of the icons are active.

Maybe I'm just too damn old for these eeelectronic deeevices.

Could it be because my computer is a Conestoga model?

I also have "404" issues that I can't seem to resolve, though I have figured out how to inconveniently back-door into the Forum.

As  for the home page photo, the gun clearly has an under-barrel magazine.  And whether a rifle or a shotgun, it's definitely not a single shot with a mercury-filled "stabilizer tube", as Dellet suggested, no doubt with tongue firmly in cheek.

I'd much rather see an old ASSRA logo rather than the new computer generated version.

If you are getting 404 error, you are using an old bookmark or link.

Option 1:
Go to the main site, (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links);
Click on the "Forum" button in the top right corner
Make a new bookmark on this page to replace your old one
sign in if needed

Option 2:
go straight to the forum using (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
You may see a short message about being redirected for a moment, but the forum should automatically load
make a bookmark of the main forum page to replace your non-working bookmark.
sign in if needed.

Option 3:
If you get a 404 page, there should be a link to the new forum in the upper right hand corner. If you arrived at the 404 page after searching for a specific topic, use the forum search to find that topic again.

Unfortunately Google and other search engines will have a mix of the old and new pages for a while. They SHOULD eventually get rid of the old pages once they realize they no longer work. When searching any result that goes to (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) should be a good one, and any that go to (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) is old and will result in a 404.

At least for me, Option 1 doesn't work.  When I put my cursor on the FORUM "button", there's no response to show that it's "clickable".  By the way, I'm using Firefox/Google.

Option 2 worked; I'm good.

But I'm still sure the photo on our home page has nothing to do with single shot rifles.
