Lyman Targetspot Junior....

Hi,

Is the quality of the Targetspot Jr comparable to the Super Targetspot?  Are the mounts identical?

I have a Super Targetspot and I like it a lot and am going to have a look at a Targetspot Jr that has come up for sale.

I'm not too concerned about the lower power or smaller diameter objective lens.

thanks for any info,

Chris.

Mounts are identical (at least mine are). Optical quality not quite as good as the STS but certainly still very good. I use an 8x TS Jr. 8x on my .22 K-Hornet and don't feel handicapped in the slightest.

I put a 10x Jr on my custom low wall 22 with good results at 100 yds.  I didn’t notice any quality difference in the optics between it and my 20x STS.  Of course they are all many decades old now, so aging may be a factor.

My JTS 6X has performed very well on my M1941 /03A1 Marine Corps Sniper Rifle in CBA Vin Mil matches. Also on my Hi Wall 40-65 in BPTR and gong matches.   Same mounts as my STS scopes. Track very well.

I have two 8 power junior target spots.I find them optically as clear as the other Lymans they are just not the just not the greatest field of view or light gathering in dimmer conditions. They are one of my favorite externally ajustable scopes. What I like is I can use fairly low mounts and crank them for longer distances without the objective lens hitting the barrel.
