If not too late, I suggest you get a 14-14.5 twist barrel for that 40-82 Sil.  Much more versatile than 16 twist, esp if you want to shoot longer higher bc bullets for long range

I shoot a 32" Ballard in .40-82 GG, 1 in 14 1/2" twist Crossno Silhouette. Been wringing it out for 2 years. Very accurate, it will hold its own to about 800yds, but in Montana's winds it drifts off past that.

I also have a set trigger High wall that is barreled with Dave Crossno 40-82 Sil. It’s 32” long, has a bore of .401 and groove of .408 with a 14.5 twist. Don’t have my load data with me, but it shoots really accurate. No competition shooting, just fun in one of our pastures and an occasional coyote.

Had a 40-82 made up on A Browning...17-18 years ago!. Dave C. had me just send the 40-65 barrel and he chambered it. A 16 twist so the 410 gr was about it. But i did shoot it out to 1,000 yds and hit the plate! I did OK at the Buffalo Match till the wind came up.In a 14-14.5 twist Kreiger Barrel with A 450-460 gr. Money Bullet would be the ticket.
375 gr below@ 100 yds..Chicken load

I am the current caretaker of Skalkaho's Browning 40-82.
the rifle shoots really well at mid range.
The load I had used
Remington stretched 45-70 brass with pistol primer pockets and .060 flash holes.(came wit the rifle)
I used Fed GM155M magnum primers, 80 gr Swiss 1.5 and a 400 gr Brooks custom GG bullet over a .030 ldpe wad.
Not sure I've had a more accurate load in any rifle.

I switched to Paper patch quite a few years ago, so don't shoot that load any more, but have gotten some really good loads with the Paperpatch bullets.

Currently playing with a Borchardt chambered in 40-82 with a 13 twist barrel.

here is my last attempt at 300 yds ( 3 shots)
