I noticed those 20X scopes on the Hilux-Leatherwood website last week. I am wondering if anyone on here has one, and what they think about them.

The Reputation on Hi Lux has been that the scopes and glass are good. But the mounts are crap. That makes them kind of expensive if have to buy the scope and then go to Steve Earl for decent mounts.

They have improved their Lyman style mounts but not sure about their Malcom's.

IMHO, we need someone here to test one of these 20X scopes and report back.

I nominate Jlouis...

I have used their Lyman style mounts on a tube sight that I made for a friend prior to these up grades.
If you do a search on this site you still might be able to find those results and they were actually pretty good.

IMHO this is a real game changer when comes to availability of optics for our sport.

I found their phone number.  I think I will call them on Monday and see about getting a sample for a review article for the Journal.  All they can say is "No!".

I ordered some bases from them a couple of years ago and paid for them online. The guy called me on the phone from California just verify that what I had was going to work for my intended purpose cause some people did not understand what they were for. They were very nice people to deal with.

I sent for one today.  It will be interesting to see how it compares to my Unertls. Their pictures on the website look pretty good.

Looks like I'll be taking delivery this week and will put through the grinder for an article/review.

Except for the phillip's screws, they don't belong.!! probably an easy fix, and cosmetic only.

Watch the wind; I assume you are Scott Elliott...?

I have a suggestion; this time, shoot all 10-shot groups for the review.  You won't win many ASSRA matches with just five bullet holes in the target.   Wink

Why is it that why we always expect for someone else's to spend their own hard earned money instead of that off our own?
Especially for someone who has supposedly been buying  more rifles than he might actually be able to use?

I had one of their long Malcomb's on a 50-90. The scope survived but the mounts didn't. ratseye
