Hold on, slowshot, not so fast.  The chances of an American barrel screwing into a Norwegian action, let alone indexing properly, without the barrel being shortened is way beyond remote.  In other words, I'd guess a good gunsmith had to do something quite clever.  Speaking for myself, I'd sure like to know what he did.

Also, you should do at least a chamber cast of your Hans Larsen rifle.  Just because the barrel says it was originally a .32-40 doesn't mean it still is.

On one hand, I'm glad you've successfully shot your Larsen with "stevens loads" (black powder? mild smokeless?).  On the other, unless the barrel was originally 32" long - not impossible but very rare - a measurement of 29-3/4" rather than 30" is not sufficient to declare the barrel shortened.  On the third hand (if you're from Venus, as my late wife used to say), you can just ignore my personal curiosity about an American barrel on a Norwegian rifle.

Isn't the 32-40 barrel on the falling block and the Larsen a .22?

Take a good look at the photos in the first group of posts, oneatatime; the Larsen is shown with its chamber visible.

On my PC it was too dark to see the hole, but the groove in the block looked like it would be more for a 22 than a 32-40. Had to play with the video settings to get into the shadowed area. Of course, then went back into the OP's original descriptions and sorted out what went where. Shortening the Stevens barrel a half inch at the breech would take care of the extractor cut and sorting out the threads of the receiver to match the Stevens threaded part of the shank could certainly be done. So, slowshot, is it easy to slide a 32-40 into the chamber?

Rodney, the pictures posted of your rifles are a topic I know nothing about, but the ASSRA members are sure helpful in that regards.  Get out and show your stuff.  Most everyone is friendly and helpful.
