Stevens 22-7-1/2 caliber oddity

I recently saw a Stevens 44 in 22-7-1/2 caliber. Its an online auction so no hands on inspection. Any input on what caliber this would correlate to in semi modern cartridges? They thought it might be 22 WRF but I don't think they know either. I have asked for a picture of the chamber and firing pin but thought I'd ask around some.

It is a .22 WRF. Stevens didn’t want to stamp a different manufacturer’s name on their rifles. However, they did stamp them .22 WRF also, probably rifles made later. That rifle probably cost $2.00 extra for chambering in .22 WRF.

Thanks Sure Shot. I was coming up with the same info but just wasn't sure. I sold off my library a few years ago and I'm starting to regret a few of those books! Not everything is on the interweb.

Stevens made the 22 WRF as  44 1/2’s also.  Bought one in 90% condition at auction that was advertised as a Stevens 44
Might add, a 28-30 barrel in the safe fit perfectly with a new extractor from Gail at CPA

Stevens used both markings. Not sure when or why they used which one. I have a Favorite and a 418 Walnut Hill both marked .22WRF. Prety sure I have something marked .22-7-1/2 but would have to do some digging to find out what it is.
