Who made these?

Who made these cappers? The nickeled on looks very old and period. The decapping stem is very nicely stamped 32 40 and the primer is small rifle. The walnut handles look to be a little newer and maybe added later? The nickeled one is smooth as silk in operation. With the replaceable shellholder, the blued one is obviously newer but very nicely made and finished.

The re- & de-capper on the right is almost certainly by Jake Simmons but the wood handles were added. Most of the examples I've seen have primer pocket scrapers in the ends.

Thanx Joe!
What era were the Simmons tools made?

The tool on the right looks to me like a Stevens-Pope re-decapper. But then I'm not an expert on them. The head is sculpted like the Stevens tools. I've ever seen a Simmons tool with the head shaped like that. The caliber stamp on the ejector rod is also located where I have seen it on other Stevens-Pope re-decappers.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

I ask because the patina of the flaking nickel looks turn of century to me, much like my Stevens Tip-Ups. I really doubt its a more modern reproduction which makes me feel better. Not that some of the more modern tools aren’t works of art as well. These came in an EBay lot that looked like someone emptied a reloading junk drawer. The seller knew better, too!

I agree with Randy Wright I have yet to seen a Simmons Head that has looked just like that one being shown.

This old Bond Model C is what originally caught my eye in that EBay lot. I always wanted to have one set up next to my Ideal No.5 powder measure to bell the case for breechseating. I know there are easier ways to do it, but I just like the old-timey look to the set-up and it will be fun making a period looking die. This has to be VERY early in Bonds production. The main body is cast brass with a black Japanned finish and the “PAT APPLD FOR” on the lever is hand stamped with individual stamps.

It is a Modern Bond reloading press. Without a doubt the slowest and most awkward press ever made. I just think its cool. For a single press operation, like flaring or neck sizing, it will work just fine.

Certainly looks like a pope with those caliber markings and the ole nickel.  The one Stevens I own is marked as such.

I really appreciate all the input and pics!
Any thoughts on who might have made the blued one with modern shellholder?

The blued one's handles seem awkwardly angled; does it handle as nicely as the Stevens-Pope?

Good observation, it handles a lot like the small Fiskar’s hedge trimmers……
My hand isn't big enough to one-hand it. With two hands it works fine. The Stevens-Pope is smooth but my CPA’s are smoother.
