John, if I remember correctly you are not a ASSRA member. So if that's correct you don't get the journal which lists names and scores at matches. Some have equipment lists and write ups on matches. Even color pictures!
You don't travel to matches either. You're living in a vacuum man!
There is a tremendous wealth of information here on the forum.

Joe I am not a member and my competitive shooting days are now pretty much over. I haven't even been out to shoot since last April and when I do go back out. It will only be to enjoy a real nice day out at the range with my HiWall 22 Rimfire rifle and to only do some 100 yard plinking. Picked it up going on three years back now and the only time I shot it is when I bought it off of the for sale table at our ISSA Regional match and not in the match. My being able to drive very far is also now no longer doable.

We had a shooter attending matches at Tacome in a wheel chair for a few years.
Also had a guy with one arm shooting offhand at Tacoma for a few years.

Happy I am and just not much shooting going on anymore over here. So much to look forward to Joe. Especially since we are no longer holding our yearly ISSA Regional matches and not enough coming out to shoot our monthly matches. The last two they didn't even shoot any matches but just came out to shoot I would assume for just the fun of it all. That is also why Modesto's scores haven't been posted as there haven't been any to post so far this year.

This will probably piss some folks off but I didn't come here to make friends.
You are also often bewildered that interest in the sport is dying.
I suggest that there is a correlation.
The percentage of ruthless competitors, and people driven to set records is thankfully so small, in comparison to the genuinely nice and helpful folks here and at matches, that it over shadows the attitudes of those type of people.
The people who do try not to piss off others, who are here to make friends, are the ones who will preserve not only the rifles, but the knowledge of how to care for and shoot them.

Sport is dying because so are we and no one is now taking their places.
Some folks are extremely serious and they have extremely high goals and it those I am trying to help.
Some folks are just not as serious and they enjoy their own various sports in a more casual competitive manor.
Some just enjoy getting out to shoot and they have no competitive interests and there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing either of those and they probably also have no interest in what it is I am sharing.
Yet they read it and at times it tends to piss some of them off and they probably shouldn't even be reading anything that I have to share to only then bitch about what they might not have any self interest in.

Sell everything but your rifles and loading equipment, buy a Winnebago, pack some clean underwear and hit the road John. Shooting season is coming on fast.

Joe I would much rather have a Prevost and a Driver so I could do just that.
Unfortunately sometimes we put off items on our bucket list and then it becomes to late and I hope that nobody else here makes that same mistake.
I had four at the top of my own List.
A trip to shoot with Charlie Dells group and on Charlie's range at his home.
Tommy Mason's Match.
The ISSA National Event At Raton.
And Etna Green
Those are not all of them but just the top four that I kept putting off and all four at the time were very doable.

Joe sometimes Modesty can be quite a surprise!
Just 13 and she could also be another one hell of a Modest competitor.

No quit in this shooter and no excuses. If my memory serves, his centerfire rifle was a Hepburn that was rechambered to 30-40 Krag from 32-40 Rem. He drove himself to the matches and did all his own setup. All we had to do was post and retrieve his targets for him.
Glen Kapitzke is his name.

One just has to enjoy his Hat and his Raccoon Tail Ponytail !!
One could only imagine how much fun it would be to be able to be hanging out and shooting with him.
