Question??

Did you ever buy a rifle just because it was to beautiful not to? I'm looking at a gorgeous rifle, great lumber, Turnbull case colors, and in perfect shape. BUT, it's really a mix of a couple rifles in a caliber (50-90) I won't shoot much. The iron sights won't work well with my old eyes and I already have plenty of rifles. But this sucker is pretty and I can't get my mind off it.

If you can see well enough to drive, you can see well enough to shoot the irons.

One is only given one life to live! If you can afford it you can get just as much joy from just looking at it and not even having to take it out and having to shoot it.

I don't need to try and put my truck in a 1 inch circle
. Considering most of my collecting is 22 rimfire this will be a little step up.

If you like it that much just do it and you can also always sell it.
Better to do so than to look back wishing that you should have done so after it is no longer available!

You need to use the big hole in the rear sight and a big aperature up front. If it's just the barrel sights, a bit of judicious filing on the rear sight notch brings things around quite nice.
Having a Decot make a set of shooting glasses for the purpose of iron sight shooting helps a great deal also. Unfortunately those aren't covered under my medicare plans...

Wisdom right there. I've gotta lot of "I wish I would bought that one" in my past. In the early years I had a wife to worry about, her aim was pretty darn good, now she's just gotten used to me.

Been there and done it myself. I once wanted a Mauser Oberndorf Model B in 7X57 with double set triggers. I found one and it was an extremely nice one at a gun show at CalExpo in Sacramento Ca. Price was fair but then I started feeling abit guilty as I was also raising a family at the time so l didn't end up buying it. I can still picture it very clearly in my head and this goes all the back to the 70's and I could have easily afforded to just go ahead and buy it. I have never seen another one since and I still regret not buying it.

Buy it!
I came home from the gun show here today with one I had looked at earlier this year.
Winchester High Wall Special Sporting Rifle. Just a nice rifle in a seldom seen variation. It is laying on my coffee table in the living room as I type.
Buy it!

I won the bench rest competition (50 shots scope and 50 shots irons) when I had cataracts and could only see the target a third of the time.
Amazing how well you can shoot iron sights even when you cannot see well.
Regardless if you shoot it or not the Turnbull rifles are a beauty just to own.

I've bought rifles I won't use much if at all, then went into agony a week later when something I
would
use cropped up and my money was already spent.
Leave it. The infatuation will fade.
