Remington Rolling Block w Double-Set Triggers

In January, 2016 I bought a custom Rolling Block at local auction company.  The rifle was set up as a prone style rifle and had a Fecker Scope ... but I noticed it had double-set triggers and that’s why I went after it. When I got the rifle home I looked up the triggers in Marcot’s Remington Rolling block Rifles ... book and they have a two page spread  on triggers by C.D. Ladd. Remington never made DSTs for the Rolling Block.

The rifle had problems … the rifle was originally .46 rimfire but the barrel was relined to .22. The breech block had already been altered once and the stocks were "chunky" prone position style stocks.

I sent the barreled action to Curt Hardcastle and he did did his metal working magic. He rebarreled it and properly modified the breech block to centerfire. The rifle is now chambered for .40-70 Sharps Straight.

It lingered on my rifle rack for a few more years before I sent it to Steve Durren to be stock and checkered. I opted for a traditional metal forend tip but had Steve use horn for the buttplate. The buttplate is checkered and has a "widow's peak" at the top of the comb.

In the not too distance past I became the owner of a Rolling Block by Curt Hardcastle. You have picked one of the best smiths to do the metal work. His work is second to none.

Recently on eBay a trigger guard was offered that was clearly an original Remington product and meant for double sets - i.e., it looked just like the one pictured.  So was it for a Hepburn?  Or did Remington in fact build at least some rolling blocks with double sets?

In any case, it is indeed now a beautiful rifle and great testimony to two superb gunsmiths.

Beautiful rifle, and the double set triggers really seal the deal.

I am not a roller guy, but I could certainly make room here for a DST model.

I have always been interested in double set triggers for my No. 1 Rolling Blocks.
I keep hearing feedback that the double set triggers on Rolling Blocks  do not work consistently.
Have you had enough use of your double triggers to evaluate their reliability?
