.32 Cartridges?

Other than the 32-Miller short, are there any other cartridges using the .357 Mag/Max as the parent cart? I'm asking just from the standpoint of availability of brass.  Thanks.

There are quite a few I wrote an article for the Journal detailing many of them. You can get it from the archives. I included a number of reamer prints with that article.

32-30 Remington, is a small or pistol diameter 32.

32 Dell or 32-357, A straight taper if remember correctly that was the difference in the Miller.

I once had a 33RKS Schuetzen and a straight tapered to 28 using that same basic case. And I believe some in Ron Smiths group are also using it for a 25.

While not a 32, I am currently working up fixed ammo loads for a 30-30 Wesson Ballard that uses brass formed from 357 Max.  It is a very accurate breech seated with a tapered Accurate Molds bullet.  I am awaiting a new lighter non tapered mold that I just ordered for fixed ammo.

Charlie insisted that it not be called the "32 Dell" although that's what it was!  He referred to it as the "32/357" instead.  His design used a straight taper all the way from the rim to the case mouth (which was 32 caliber).  He didn't need a custom reamer, he just used a taper reamer then cut the rim separately.  Each of his chambers tended to be just a hair different for this reason, and the one on my Peregrine bench gun is the tightest I've ever encountered. When I would loan brass to someone else shooting one of his rifles it always required a pass through the sizing die before it would go back in my chamber.

An interesting fact is that cases formed for the 32/357 will fit a 32 Miller Short chamber, but once they have been fired in the Miller they must be FL sized to go back into the Dell chamber.  The Miller design is about cylindrical from the rim to the neck, then it tapers to 32 cal.

It's also worth noting that although dimensionally his wildcat case was a necked down 357 case, he preferred to make his cases from cut down 5.6x50R brass from Norma or DWM.  I had some of them I got from him but could never see any difference in the accuracy I got from my Peregrine off the bench.

Bucksnort,

You did not say the cartridge had to be 32 caliber.  The answers above seem to think that, but I'll offer a different caliber option -   the 222 rimmed (222 Remington, with a rim) made from 357 Max.  Great round for single shot rifles, and very accurate, like its namesake.  Easy to make and load.

No reason you couldn't chamber for 300 Blackout and just cut for a rim separately. You can then run 357 or 357 max brass thru 300 BLK dies to form them.
