Reamer / Mould Block experiment..?

Gent's,

I have two reamers that were cut by Pacific T&D
1, 35-40,- 2, 38-55 to chamber  2 CPA / Stevens  44 1/2 barrels.

Step 1,
I am thinking of having someone with a lathe or other mould making equipment use the reamers to make a exact replica
of my chambers (min tolerance) in a mould block so I can
separate the halves providing the ability to insert a piece of brass in one half to inspect how both the fired and unfired brass compares to the chamber.

In addition I want to use the reamers to make full length sizing dies from blanks.

I know I can get most of the information in step 1 from a chamber cast but seeing the amount of brass shrinkage is something I want to visualize..

Any thoughts..?
Dumb idea..?
Been done ..?
Waste of money..?

Thanks in advance for your opinions no matter how critical.

1. Make a chamber cast and record all dimensions  1 hour after the casting.( Cerrosafe directions)
2. Measure your fired cases.
3. compare your FF brass diameters to the chamber cast
to determine the brass "shrinkage"
You can also compare to your chamber reamers.
4.Buy more powder, bullets and primers that you save by not
messing with making a "mold block" chamber

For some of the rifles I had build for the old calibers I had reamers made. One for the chamber and one for the sizing die.
Most generally a chamber reamer will not get you the proper diameter it needs to be a couple thousands less than the chamber reamer.

Maybe quick and easy.  If you have left over Barrel Stubs you could chamber them and then cut away one side.  Doesn't have to be Dead to the Nuts Center but anywhere shy of center would give you the Visual Gage you want.  More Coffee ☕. David

2nd a barrel stub. I've done a couple for bottlenecks so I could see what the clearance from the neck to the leade looks like. 22's are a pain to deburr ...

Don't even really need a like caliber barrel if you can ream or even drill it out to clear the pilot.
