Shooting in southern Oregon?

We live in Walla Walla, Washington, so I am not far from the cast bullet matches at Nine Mile Falls. My intention is to try competing up there as often as events are held.

But we recently bought a 1/4 acre lot in Bandon, Oregon and will be building a vacation/retirement home down that way. Over the next five years or so I expect to be living there close to half of each year. Beyond that we will likely be there full time.

Bandon is 30 miles south of Coos Bay, OR and 109 miles north of Crescent City, CA. Towns that wouldn’t be terribly far away would include Corvallis, Eugene, Medford, and Grants Pass.

Are there any single shot matches in those areas? Cast bullet matches perhaps?

25 miles east of Bend OR, at the COSSA Range, is a club that shoots 3 day gong matches (once a month during the warmer months).  Here is a link to their website for more details:  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

There is a club that shoots BPCR silhouette near John Day Or.

I appreciate the information, but I’m actually much closer to both those places right now while living in Walla Walla.

But that does give me additional spots to utilize close to SE Washington. I don’t shoot BPCR though. I should have been more clear about that.

Thank you!

My wife and I seriously thought about moving to Bandon after we retired.  Paying property taxes on a fixed income was a deterrent, as was access to decent medical care, but the lack of a place to shoot was the clincher.

There was a retired policeman who was trying to develop a range on a former garbage dump north of town, across the bridge and on the east side of 101. That was maybe 10+ years back.  It's tough to fight both old age and political correctness.

There was a group holding Schuetzen matches in GrantsPass.
One of those members is on this site and he might hopefully chime in.

Thank you Dave and I was abit hesitant to mention any name's without any prior approval before I did so.
I know some of those folks in that group and one would be hard pressed to find anyone more helpful to learn what they are all so freely willing to share!!

Tony, I attended a couple of those single-shot matches at the Sportsman Park in Merlin back when I lived in Medford. Really nice fellas and some seriously nice rifles. I hope they are still at it. That is a fine range facility.
Bandon was about my favorite town on the Oregon Coast. Used to stop at the cheese factory for fresh curds.
The gun writer Francis Sell lived just south of Coquille, and that is where he, Parker Ackley and Chick Donnelly developed the .25-35 Tomcat.
