Bullet mold ponderings

As my mind wandered while casting yesterday, I got  to wondering if there we should compile a list of  Mold makers who catered to our genre.      Outside of the big 3 (RCBS, Ideal/Lyman, Lee) who makes/made a mold the we use for schuetzen and are they still making molds?

I'll start:

Steve Brooks - yes
Borton- Borton Darr- Darr  no
Paul Jones  no(?)
Hoch  yes
Barnett (?)
Vietz(?)
Zika no
Moss yes
Rapine (?)

Most mentioned are actually really good.
But why anyone would buy a double cavity mould for competitive use is abit hard to believe.
Once owned one to try myself and the bullets were in no way the same from one cavity to the next..
Any sort of consistency was just not obtainable for serious Benchrest work but that is also only being based on my own bad experience.
I also shoot my bullets in the order as cast so unfortunately it was also absolutely worthless for my own use.

Darr, Jerry Barnett and some of the others who are no longer with us were some of the best moulds being made. Is Ron Long still with us I cannot keep up with all of those who have now left the range?

While he's long gone, Don Eagan was the best, if you can snag one of his molds....do it!

Sold 3 Barnett molds Sunday. Probably should have kept them, but I won’t use them, so off to a new owner.

For those who were shooting the Production and the CBA Heavy classes. Egan's MX bullet moulds were indeed the very best and not only have won allot of matches. They still hold CBA National records in those two classes.. If he made a Plainbase bullet mould it was an unknown to me or I would have surely purchased one for myself.

I've become a fanboy of Accurate molds of late. And yes, I like two cavity ones- it's a simple matter of putting a small mark in one of the cavities to differentiate between the two bullets.

I believe Tom Ballard is dead.  His adjustable paper-patch moulds were very basic but also very good.

I just received my 7th Accurate mold yesterday. I almost always have two cavities cut in a single brass mold, each being different or with subtle changes in diameter or length. Every cavity that Tom has made for me casts within .0005” or better of intended alloy. For those not familiar with Accurate Molds, you have the ability to modify any design or completely design one of your own. For example, I ordered a double cavity 31-156C with the 2nd cavity being a 31-156CB. On the “CB” version I added a .020” bevel base. Both designs were modified to be tapered to fit my particular bore/groove/throat. In my Stevens Tip-Up, the bevel base shoots decidedly tighter groups.
