Did you see the buyers premium? 21%

I recall 25 years or so ago one remarkable specimen went for under $10,000 which at the time was far cheaper than similar 1874's. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Too bad the stock is split on the left side between the action and the side plate screw.  However, there are at least two specialists who can fix that.

Not much of the original rifle left really. Was rebarreled  in 1916 with a barrel from another rifle in a different caliber and refinished after being engraved some time later in it's life. When is anyone's guess.
Looks pretty though.

Another classic case of "Wow!" until you read the fine print.  Then, it turns into a "parts" gun.

I have a '77 on order from Shiloh, due summer of '22.  It will be much nicer than this one.

You know it's so true nowadays that you can find a new quality manufactured replica rifle that's better in terms of materials, strength, and tolerances than any original at a better price point.
As an example, folks on Gunbroker will always bid up some worn out, rusted out old (martini, high wall, stevens, etc.) to just stupid levels that it just makes no sense to partake in the madness. And it's also true IMHO, that it makes little sense to restore those rifles. From a financial viewpoint, unless it's something you can do entirely. Enjoy that Sharps when it arrives!

2 questions:

Does the sold price include the buyer's premium?

What % did they charge the guy who put the rifle in the auction?

My Gosh! for that much money I could own fully engraved, XXX+ wood, M77, M74, and have enough $$$$ left to buy all the components to keep me shooting for a year.  Oh, yeah, and go to Quigley and the ASSRA/ISSA Nationals.
