	It's hard to believe that anyone, most especially a seller of guns, would be so ignorant (or such a flim-flammer) to call the ring on a Favorite's take-down screw a "saddle ring". But there it is. Caveat emptor indeed. Bill Lawrence

	Well, I’ve seen favorites in a lot worse condition on gunbroker with a starting bid for much more. I guess you could use the ring on the take down screw for a saddle ring.

	I was going to bid on it, but they added additional info today that swayed me. I already have a rimfire. Quote: This is a rim fire not a center fire rifle. Not 25 WSSM call with any questions I just don’t think a saddle ring Favorite, chambered in any thing less than 25 WSSM, makes any sense.

Most of it is probably in some big blue shipping container waiting in the queue in Long Beach harbor. They don't unload that stuff on week-ends or holidays.

	the question was asked about what the ring on a Stevens rifle is for. I believe it works very much like the ring on a hand grenade.

	As all you know, I'm sure, the ring, theoretically, is used to finger-loosen or -tighten the Favorite's take-down screw. Except, of course, for those chambered in .25 WSSM (a "hand grenade" indeed). Bill Lawrence

	Actually, I think all of y'all are wrong. That ring was only installed on paratrooper models, for the purpose of tying it fast to yourself. Marine Raiders referred to it as their "Favorite" for close in jungle fighting, hence the name Favorite. Just a historical (hysterical?) military lesson of the day. You're welcome.

	The seller forgot to mention that the favorite has a super low three digit serial number, oh wait, almost all favorites have a three digit number.

	Those are all over the place. But finding a Stevens saddle to hook it on—there’s the problem. They’re even rarer than the Stevens factory bicycle case or the Remington Cadet boy’s rifle bayonet.
