Got this at a local auction. The squares are 1". The tube had finely ground powder in it. There was also some thin tissue paper and a roll of caps included? I have my guess, what's yours?

More pictures. It's hard to see, but the brass wheels are finely serrated.

For some reason, I can't get 2 pictures to post at one time. Operator head spacing issue.

Pinstripe your rifle. Pinstripe your wifes car!  Smiley When she's gone. She'll be surprised. You might get laid!

Look honey, I pinstriped your car!

Joe but there is no pin stripling on that car and if it Her's. It will only be the Chicken's in their Chicken house that will be doing any of the laying.

Wives cars don't start out pinstriped.

I watched a guy named Hot Rod do pinstriping at a motorsicle thing at Wenatchee in 96. Besides pinstriping he was a heck of an artist.

Custom pinstriped single shots may now become the latest rage. Will go well with tattoos and pompadour hairdoos and sideburns.

My grandfather's profession was restoring turn of the century steam automobiles. (He was born in 1900 and the cars ranged from 1898 to 1908.) In addition to the metal and wood fabricating (tasks not unlike dealing with single shots of that era), he was a one man shop and did his own painting/detailing of the finished projects which included pin striping. But, he did it with custom trimmed brushes and a very steady hand, with little flourishes and fleur de lis in the corners and ends of the stripes.

As an adolescent in the early 60's I learned to drive on the 1898 Locomobile -  tiller steering, hand brake, hand throttle and all. No wonder I gravitated toward 19th century single shot rifles!

He decried the molestation of 30's vintage cars in the creation of hot rods. He was a preservationist through and through.

I bought one of those pinstriping wheels from JC Whitney back in the 60's to pinstripe my '57 Chev. What a mess! Luckily I could remove it quickly before it dried and I had to live with it forever!

Yard art, the crusher or custom hot rod?  I'll go with the hot rod.   Smiley

So what was the ground up powder in the glass tube for?
I put the powder in the hopper and rolled it. It came out in a thin line. There was also a roll of cap gun caps in the box. Looks like it was made to make your own caps, but why?

If it is for pin striping, wouldn't there be a wick between the wheels? Obviously, I've never seen a pin striper. And I'm damn sure NOT going to test it on my wife's car.Your trying to get me killed!

By golly that's it. Wonder why the old boy had it in his reloading supplies.
