A quote from Army veteran Charles M. Province,
It is the Soldier, not the minister, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to protest. It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote. It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
Thank you to all who served.

Thanks to all that served! A special thank you to the Korean War veterans, my father was a Korean War vet who passed this year just shy of 93.
I like to celebrate Veterans Day every year by watching “Sergeant York” starring Gary Cooper. Bullseye four o’clock … That ain’t a rookie it’s Buffalo Bill.

It is certainly refreshing that the general pubic looks to honor veterans. My three brothers and I all served, two of us in the Army and two in the Navy, all in the seventies.
Thanks to all of our veterans.
Attending a friends service at the national cemetery here in MPLS i was surrounded by a very large sea of white marble headstones and it was sobering.

Although I sent out emails thanking all the veterans I know personally, I neglected to check back to the ASSRA forum. I would like to add my thanks to all veterans who worked so hard and suffered to make this the land of the free and home of the brave.
I did not serve, but have a son currently with the 101st Airborne flying medevac misions. His deployment to Afghanistan was certainly "mother's worry". His safe return was THE BEST DAY EVER.

Don't forget the wives and their military Brats. While we were running around doing our HOO-AH thing. They were moving every 3 years which means changing jobs and schools, and setting home worrying and running the family as a single Mom.
Blackhawk, I'm with you on Best day ever, when your Son returned.
I've never been so afraid for so long.
God bless the USA!

Thank You, to all who served, and those of you who have saluted us.
My brother Ed and I served six months together in I Corps; he as a medic and I in the MAC-V SOG Ly Tin Advisory Team 17 until he went home. I could then get to the Ranger Company in the 23rd Inf Div.
Three tours and nobody ever put a bullet in me.
America needs to bless God, and return to the days when this was the greatest country on Earth.

I was out of town, away from my evil computer, for a week and a half, visiting my oldest on the birth of his youngest. He was an Army Combat Medic, spent two years at Ft. Drum, then in a Heavy Armor unit on the DMZ in Korea. His younger brother was a Marine, at the first battle of Ramadi, then a National Guardsman in Afghanistan walking his feet off. Youngest was an Air Force Airborne Cryptologic Linguist, and even though he's been out for several years, still can't tell me what "exactly" he did...though I have a pretty good idea on what and where.
I did my four years, 1968-72, in Uncle Sam's Nuclear Powered Canoe Club, but was with aviation units for all four.
Thanks and welcome home to all my military brothers and sisters!

When was the medic at the DMZ in Korea? Was he in the 4/7 Cav? I was on the same compound with the 4/7 Dec. 67- Apr. 69. Camp McKenzie. There was fighting every day. I found out recently that was called the Second \Korean War.

Am a little late to this party, but served in the same 'Nuclear Canoe Club' as 38_Cal from '67- 75, including the Enterprise '70-71 for refueling & a tour off Vietnam.
Thanks to all my fellow veterans.
