61 and living in the Texas hill country.
I read every American Rifleman from the late 20's and everything Frank de Haas and a host of others wrote about single shot rifles from the time I was 14 years old.
Single shots were as scarce as hens teeth in the North Texas town I was raised in and I new of no one else who was interested in them.  I've always been drawn to them.

It is wonderful to hear from each one of you, but heartbreaking none the less to hear how many of you no longer have access to a place to shoot.
Please read thru the posts. If someone has mentioned that they have no where to shoot, and it would be logistically feasable, invite them to
Shoot. If you have access to a woodlot, and you can get the  less fortunate out for a day In the woods, please do what you can.
Any DAV's in SW Idaho, that would like a place to hunt or shoot, shoot me, (Do I really mean that) a message.
It's a bloody shame what's happening.

I'm 82 living on the middle east coast of Florida.  The increasing lack of places to shoot brought on by the invasion of liberals has me looking to "get out of Dodge".  I've been here since 1973 and I'm done~!  Looking at southern Alabama or southern Arkansas.  Moving after all these years is a tough decision at my age, but I miss shooting my 1885 low-wall on a weekly basis.  10 acres and some coyotes should fix my problem.

70 years old, Calgary, Alberta. A few single shot shooters sprinkled around here. Mostly grey hair though.
Calgary has 3 or 4 indoor (primarily handgun) ranges within city limits. 3or 4 very nice outdoor ranges about 1 hr and 15 minutes drive for me. One I'm a member at has a very nice 500M Silhouette range, a bench rest range and a 600 to 1000 yard full bore range and several handgun ranges. Just wish it were a bit closer.

Don't you just love indoor ranges.  There you can shoot your single shot .22 cal 1885 Winchester right next to "Dirty Harry" on one side with his 10mm and the guy on the other side banging away with his AR-15.  So relaxing~!

Seems as though it's fellows in their 60s on up and I did bring up the
subject of Single Shot Rifles with a bunch of young blokes and all I
heard was AR nonsense and I called it quits and went home.
Talk about a lost flock of sheep.
Now there is. a scattering of young-er men who have a sincere interest in SS Rifles. But the humdinger was, " if I can't stuff it in an AR
mag, and it won't fit my AR receiver, I don't want it".
Re-education, nah, they won't listen!!
How does an old guy enjoy a day at the range with AR's blazing away, and do you really think they clean up after they run out of ammo???
I never even unzipped the gun case. I'll steal a line from the great
BB King..... " The thrill is gone"

Had a similar experience when I was inot precision shooting with my single shot SAKO in 6mm PPC.  Got to the range, paid my $12, set up my target, sat down at the bench, tried to relax and get my breathing right, started to squeeze down on the trigger when the guy on my right unloaded his .338 Lapua and I darned near jumped thru the roof.  Attempted to relax and get ready to shoot when "Rambo" on my left opened up with his AR-10 in .308, bang, bang, bang, bang.  That did it.  Packed up my stuff and left.  Never got off a shot~!  Result~?  Sold my beautiful SAKO and gave up with the precision shooting game~!

Maybe this will work for the photo.

That's fantastic work.  Does she do it for the public~?  Do you have a FFL to ship a rifle to you~?

Excuse me while I brag.  I just lucked on a fully restored 1885 low-wall Winchester in .32-20.  Every part was restored; wood, bluing, tang site, unbelievable case coloring, and a new liner in the barrel.  It's as new as new gets.  Was shocked at the scarcity of .32-20 ammunition and reloading components though.  $1.95 per cartridge is a little strong even when you stumble across a box at that price~!  Maybe I'll just love a caress it and be satisfied with my .22LT caliber '85 Winchesters by Miroku~!

I will be 86 on June 29 this month.  I shoot at the Red Castle gun club on the Zink Ranch North of Tulsa, OK.  Still shooting with iron sights, but not as well as before the pandemic.  Must have had to do with the shots.
