It would be interesting to have a handle on the ages of those of us who enjoy single shot rifles as I sometimes feel to be one of the younger ones at matches.
That said.

70 years old living in Minnesota

Seems as though it's fellows in their 60s on up and I did bring up the
subject of Single Shot Rifles with a bunch of young blokes and all I
heard was AR nonsense and I called it quits and went home.
Talk about a lost flock of sheep.
Now there is. a scattering of young-er men who have a sincere interest in SS Rifles. But the humdinger was, " if I can't stuff it in an AR
mag, and it won't fit my AR receiver, I don't want it".
Re-education, nah, they won't listen!!
How does an old guy enjoy a day at the range with AR's blazing away, and do you really think they clean up after they run out of ammo???
I never even unzipped the gun case. I'll steal a line from the great
BB King..... " The thrill is gone"

As was mentioned go shoot at 200 yards. The AR group enjoys shooting just as much as anyone else. We have such a group and I have never seen them over on the 200 line but that is also where I always practice at. Some of them folks actually shoot them in competition and also do practice allot. I personally have no use for one but I do respect their own right to enjoy whatever it is that they might like to own and to also shoot.
As mentioned prior too I am 71and 72 will be coming soon.
Thankfully I haven't seen very many of those spray and pray folks out at the range or trying to be disrespect to me. While I am also out there and enjoying myself and just as much as they too are trying to enjoy themselves.

Ask yourself these questions:
1) what drives with an insane energy the firearms industry in USA today?
2) Safety! It's not getting any safer, what ridiculously unsafe acts have you witnessed?
3) Trashing up public access and BLM/ Forest Service Lands.
4) Are you willing to risk your life under these conditions.
No name calling.
No insults. No hothead comments.
There is a huge problem with public access shooting.
Go for it ! Tongue

Absolutely agree that there is a BIG problem with public access shooting.  I worked on public lands as a forester from the 1970s through the 1990s.  Even then, we tried to have our field work done before hunting season.  Hunting season was the time for writing reports and making maps back in the office.  Working in the woods on public land has not gotten any safer with time.  Instead, it is more and more dangerous.

In 2011, two foresters I knew, one a casual acquaintance, the other a friend, were shot and killed in separate shootings on separate days, by a madman with an AR.  We seem to have a large supply of such madmen.

If this does not disappear, we probably need to take it to its own topic.

Wow and I believe your are now the youngest so far. When all is said and done I want to average out what the averages ages might be. Not so sure that I should actually include yours now? So please go out and to pickup even more!

Got COVID over 2020 deer season. During 2019 season I saw one other hunter on opening day, heard no shots, that was on public land. I will say I am always a little ansi out there during deer season. I am sure I am not the only one to hear semiautomatic fire during deer season. I do not own an AR type platform, but support those who do. I have come across piles of bloody paper towels from field dressing a deer, if you brought it with you, take it with you. I do believe, looking back on 50 years of deer hunting, there are fewer hunters, but feel less safe now.
