Looks like the kissin' cousin of my Belknap Hardware "Nitro Hunter", .22LR. which is a rebadged H&A 2922. The hammer nose on yours looks like they fixed what in my mind is wrong with the little H&A's, the low nose requiring a steep uphill angle of the firing pin.

It is a Marbles sold for 22 boys rifles. Made from stampings with a sliding stem and a spring clip to hold it in place.

Very cool! Awesome rifle.

I'm curious, is it threaded?  (Not wanting to start a should it be argument.)

Not threaded and know cartridge is questionable but I use light cast loads.

Looks like it's got a half-cock notch on the hammer instead of the usual H&A rebounding hammer arrangement.  Does the hammer rebound at all?

Looking into my copy of Vorisek, R. Murdock was one of three dozen or so names that were affixed by H&A for wholesalers. Since none of that started until after the company was reconstituted after the failure of Merwin & Hulbert, it has to date after 1898. but obviously before 1915.

H&A offered that action in .38 S&W centerfire, and one high-grade "Schuetzen" model was .25-20 SS.  Now I'm wondering if those models had that higher hammer and the less angled firing pin.  Anybody got one to compare?
