Pour in the powder, using a bullet starter drive the ball over a spit spit patch made from pillow ticking, drive the ball further down with the bullet starter, fully seat the bullet with the ramrod, cap & fire.

After the shot push a spit patch down the bore with the ramrod.  Work the patch in ever-lengthening strokes to the bottom of the barrel.  Remove the spit patch and push a dry patch down the bore.  Remove the dry patch, Ready to charge & reload the next bullet.

The above sounds time consuming but only takes a minute, certainly no more than two.

A long time ago I quit cleaning between shots.   If you use a good lubricant, the bore is cleaned automatically when you reload when you use a patched round ball.   I automatically reload immediately after firing though.   I suppose in this day and age that is probably not allowed on most ranges anymore.  The lube I use was in common usage up until the mid 1970s when it was made illegal by the government.   Fortunately, I have enough to last me until I can no longer shoot.
