Back in my NCRS days, the standard joke was: Of the 714 fuel injected 1957 Corvettes sold, only 3,000 remain."

I think that's true of all collectables.

Wanna know what makes that "Pope" listing the more egregious?

That same seller has a real Pope for sale, so he knows what the real Pope barrel stamps look like.

Interesting but how did it get from half octagon to full round per his discription? Now being what I believe he said is that the barrel is now a number 3. If the half octagon was turned off I don't see how that could be. But that is just me as everything would have had to been re-stamped including the bottom of the barrel so it is abit puzzling to me. But I could also be missing something?

Obviously Pope replaced the original barrel.  And it was probably he that relocated the firing pin.

Good point but were is the provinous in the gentleman's discretion. I have personally turned down a few barrels and to get from a half round to a tapered #3. It must have been a #4 or possibly #5 to have been enough to remove to make it a tapered #3. But again I could be wrong and I could still be missing something? Also the starting price is also a bit concerning to me but again that is just me.
