I just got this old suhl rifle. I need help identifying the caliber. This is an old martini action schuetzen rifle. On the top of the barrel is CARL PAUBEL, SUHL.

Markings: 17004, (B crowned),(G crowned),(U crowned), 313, 7.09, 424

And some type of Horizontal H which is stamped on every part

Thanks,
Rob0h

Post the photos on German Gun Collectors Association forum. I’m sure Mike or Axel will help you out.

I'd second Yamoon's advice. Mike Ford usually responds quickly and is very reliable.
In the meantime, this would be my guess:
Crown over G is the proof for rifled barrels
Crown over B and U go together and are a  final proof. The crown over B signifies that the gun was proofed in its finished condition. The crown over U is said to have been discontinued, after the proof law of 1939, which helps to date your rifle.
The 7.09 should be the date of proof, July 1909 and the 424 may be the ledger book entry number.
I don't know what the 313 means but if was 318, it might be the groove diameter.
