I personally do not have any interests in Ballards but what Westerner said in regards to their accuracy advantages is very true and also a big plus.

So you have a mint Pope barrel. I think if you look for what to put it on should be what is the best action available a slicked up 1878 Sharps, it was a favorite of Zischang, a Walker Hepburn perhaps ? Ballard, Stevens 44 1/2 or High Wall ? Why not a Farrrow ? If Pope were alive what would he use. Any one ever work with a Bullard ?

RDBallard  I can't recall ever seeing an ugly Rigby Ballard. I saw and handled many that passed through John Dutcher's hands, and most were absolutely breathtaking. Had to wear a bib to catch the drool.

Cbashooter  I couldn't agree more. Part of the reason I started the moderation topic. Had that discourse been halted, there is a possibility the outcome could have been different.

I have to say, Ballard actions are weaker when overloaded, as in  double charged smokeless loads, or loads at pressure levels the action was not designed for, but perfectly safe with loads they were designed for 139 years ago. Black powder or smokeless loads at designed pressure levels. If one is timid, go with other designs, although the same rules apply to them.

uscra112  I wish them well, but I would check with them on the land office business status. All in the perspective I guess. I had a friend in Alaska in the land office business during the pipeline days, and it was more than worthy of the description.

I tend to agree, and I suspect it’s not the first time this has happened, I know it stopped me posting for a few years

What, did I get it wrong? What is it then? I got it from Buffalo Arms a long time ago.
