The wonderful Ballard

I'm sitting here in good old OZ in total lockdown thanks to Covid with nothing to do seeing as the range is closed till further notice.
So I thought I might case a fight ( polite discussion ) by posting the following question.
Lets say, for the purpose of discussion that I found a brand new Pope barrel packed in grease with a letter from Pope himself saying the the barrel was tested by himself and found to be the most accurate barrel he had ever made.
I then take said barrel and decide to put it into one of the three actions ( all brand new & unused ) that I have in  my possession, a Meacham 1885 Hi Wall, a CPA Stevens 44.5, and a Ballard forged action , also unused in mint condition.
Which of the three action will provide a more accurate rifle and why ?
Mike.

I think it would be a shame to put the Pope barrel on a modern action.

That's a brutal question.  Is the Ballard a Cody? or an original Marlin?  Even being an addict to Ballards, followed by Hi Walls, and 44.5 being the lowest on my preferred list of actions, I'm going to say the CPA.  Best lock time, best lock up, best track history, easiest to make shoot, just what I've seen with them.  Have them all and spent more time tweaking the first two for function and accuracy.  My 2¢
Should be a good fight (polite discussion) Grin

I agree with Aaron.  A Pope barrel deserves an action that was available when Pope was installing them.

I'd probably try to save the grease, and frame the letter.

Will the Ballard action be an engraved pistol grip action?

Thanks guys for the replies, as this is all hypothetical perhaps calibre is not all that important, also if the actions are. engraved or not. What I was trying to ascertain was how would using a Ballard action, either original or modern would make for a more accurate rifle. For the purpose of the argument, lets say in 32-40.
I'm aware that Harry made rifles on other actions ( I think ), what makes the Ballard superior as far as accuracy is concerned.
Finally if the Ballard action is so superior, for whatever reason, it seems strange to me that rifle manufacturers are not rushing to recreate them. To the best of my knowledge I can only think of the crowd in Cody who have tried, and it seems that they quit for some reason. Just curious.
Mike.
PS  The only Ballard rifle I have ever seen and handled was a Cody Ballard, and it looked to be very well made

Ballard owners try harder. If you don't own a Ballard, you won't understand.

People who own and shoot Ballards are happy friendly people.

The only major point of superiority in the Ballard that I can see is the attachment of the buttstock by a through-bolt.  In principle this makes for a stiffer assembly.

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess it's a bit like the old saying about V8 s, " If you understand the attraction of V8s no explanation is necessary, if you don't, then no explanation is possible"
Still no explanation as to why nobody is making them in large numbers, and why the Cody builders stopped, just curious still.

They also lock up tight and have excellent triggers.

Making obsolete actions that few are interested in is not a money maker.

And yet CPA is still doing a land-office business making replicas of an obsolete action.
