Rodney, sounds like you're going to be in the mold business.

This looks like a good thing but I'm not understanding how it could be twice as fast to use than the standard design mold.
There's not a lot of 'meat' around the cavity, so it would be prone to getting hot, would it not  ??
What if the bullet sticks a little ??
Not knocking the idea, just asking the question.

Dusty, If you’ll notice in the pictures there is a brass plug at the bottom of the mold it has a small tit that sticks up in the bullet and It is actually slightly loose held in by one screw and when you open all the way it hits the head of the screw and pull the bullet out of whichever side it’s in. After automatically cutting the sprue off. Regarding the heat you would lower the temperature of your lead pot. My experience has been that you can easily double your rate of casting bullets. Of course the larger the bullet the more cooling time is required. I had made a 40 and a 45 caliber insert for mine. They take a little longer to cool so I run a lower temperature to keep the rate up also use a small fan to cool the mold. Those of you that are interested send me your email and I’ll put you on the list. It is going to take a while.

They will be finished. It would I think be a bit of a challenge for someone without having one to go by.

It’s not been been calculated. Will have to prototype one to see.

I have McLemore / Pope mold #002, and can attest to the quality and truth of the claims we have read in this thread.   If the new mold matches Jim’s quality and workmanship it will be well worth practically any price.  Once you have used it, and become accustomed to it, you can cast fine bullets faster than any other mold.

Amazing how much unknown history to most of us.
Also including myself is still coming to the surface today.
Even though it goes beyond Pope's and some of the older old timers time.
What those old folks handed down to us still amazes myself.

Rodney, or anyone else that has used or owns one, have you swapped the mold portion with different cavities and if so how easy of a process is it.

Bob, if you look at the earlier part of this post it shows the outside of the mold handles. Each cavity is held in by a screw.
The original that I had a chance to use for casting bullets only had the one cavity so I never did take it out.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Yeah like Randy said one screw on each side. Then if the mold was a different length on top you might have to adjust the height of the cut off plate.

Only 3 so far I.D.ed in this thread.
So far we know there were at least 72 made since that serial number is the highest so far.
I still wonder if McLemore made them so that there was at least a near degree of interchangeability with Pope's-at least so inserts would fit between them.
And,(Rodney please note) I presume it would be wise to make the inserts so the "top end" would be the same length to the groove and the retaining screw holes so a person does not have to adjust the sprue plate height when changing inserts.
