I think Pope said he could cast 400 an hour with the mold. I have used them and when they work they really-really work well. Sometimes temperamental though. The original patterns still exist and that is what Mclemore used to make the molds. Rodney is talking about making new ones but he needs serious nagging to get him going on the project. I have one of these molds with seven original inserts. Pope also made a first version Universal Mold while he was in California after his fire. They are very rare with only a handful know. They did not have the automatic cut off.

Good morning Tom. I have actually sent the first batch of waxes for the automatic Pope automatic mold to be cast. So there is progress being made. I talked to David Moos about making the inserts , and he seemed game so I will let you know and the forum know when we get it worked out.

Are you using an actual Pope or are you using your #51 MC Lemore as your patterns?
Do you know if the brass insert cavities are the same dimensions between the Pope and the MC Lemore units?

Everyone has to do their part—nag Rodney. Those molds are a dream to cast with. Also get him to make scope caps for Stevens Special scopes!! His favorite word—soon!

Sign me up for a Storie-Pope Universal mold, especially if David Mos will be making the cavity inserts.
I had a borrowed original Pope Universal mold a couple of years ago and used it to cast bunches of bullets. With the Universal I just about doubled my usual casting rate for match quality bullets per hour.
Read the instructions in Pope's 1899 catalog (you can find it online) and you won't go wrong. One little quirk I'll point out - don't pour too generous a spure. The over pour will jam the cut-off arm and you'll have to clear it before casting more bullets. That really cuts into any time saving advantages of the auto cut-off feature.
Overall the Pope Universal mold was a joy to use and made bullet casting almost fun.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Ordering details ... I would expect that Rodney's prices may be different from those listed here.
