bottom of the barrel

Got into the primer drawer and pulled out a couple boxes of primers, one REM, t'other WIN.    On opening the boxes, they had wooden separators between the primers.   How many people don't even remember those?

Still have 2 boxes of Winchester rifle primers in the wooden trays.
Should use them up I suppose, but sort of like to keep them for memories sake.

Did any of you fellers fight with Teddy on San Juan Hill?   Grin I just turned 70 and was reloading with my dad by 8 or 9 years old and I sure don't remember any wooden dividers.  I still use the Herters turret press and 310 tool from those days.  Tom

I have primers in wooden divider boxes, but never bought any to actually use in about 50 years of reloading myself. I keep them just because they're old and I think they're neat. Have them in the old bulk style tins too.

They use something different now? I'm just about through all the primers my grandad passed down, what do they divide them with now??? Are the new ones non corrosive? It'll be great not having to wash the brass and barrels to get rid of the mercury... Grin Grin Grin

Actually have a few boxes of them Chris, too hot here right now to go look but I recall some saying non-corrosive priming but some not -so I was always suspicious of those.

Interesting memory bump. Smiley I'd forgotten about the wooden separators in primer boxes. But I do remember kirksite Cu coated bullets and still have my original loading press; an H type Herter. Awful machining but it worked. Bushing the main casting would clean it up.
