I have at one time in the past shot a .006/.007 undersize bullet with great success
in a Long Range Sharps Borchardt at 1000 yards. The Bullet was the standard
Postell cast 535 Grs  30/1 Lead tin, Pan lubed with the Pope Formulae. I sized them down to .451/.452 diameter as that is what original Sharps factory Paper patch bullets measure. We had a 400 yd zero and went back to 1000 Yds.
Rifle had a Mid Range new Patent Vernier rear sight and Sharps Windgage front sight. I took the rear almost to the top, 1st shot fell about 35 Yards short. Took a little more, 2nd shot fell in about 15 Yds short. Took a little more and was running out of adjustment, 3rd shot hit the steel plate with a 36" black Bullseye. The caliber was a Sharps .45 X 2 7/8" The Load was 10 Grs 4759, and 100 Grs Elephant Fg Black. Kicked really hard, rifle weighed just under 11 Lbs. We had about 20 shooters there and they all wanted to shoot it, but once they got a "BONG" they were quick to pass it on.When we were done I went down to look the Target over and we had devoped a group of strikes on the plate about 10" in diameter. A few edge hits but most well on the plate and alot centered. So black
powder can be relied on to "BUMP" up undersize bullets. Hth regards FITZ
