Bnice,

5.6x50R brass: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

What does a reamer need for breech seating? How is it different? My 256 Win Mag reamer is for fixed cartridges, but I have breech seated it; probably not properly.

The 5.6x55R brass forms more easily to 256 than does a 357 case.

Dave.Since you will make your own dies ?...what length 25 cal is the question.  So necked down 357 mag ( 256 mag), 360 Wesson,357 maximum. No reason you cant do a straight taper also and leave off the shoulder. The 25 RKS is that case and using the 460 Wesson your not having to do major brass trimming. The 357 Max just that much longer . Lots of options! IF that is the direction your going?

PPoll the difference is having a tapered throat to push the bullet into.
Pete, I was trying to remember isn't the 25 RKS made with a 223 reamer in a 25 barrel? I had talked to Ron many moons ago about it and have lost some of those brain cells since.

The cartridge used now for the RKS. Is the Starline 360 Dan Weston case stamped 360 DW.
Just run it in a 223 sizing die and shot!
No trimming involved!
They also appear to be very good quality.

I changed my reply above..said 460 Wesson, meant 360. That is the way to go now. I really like the 32 RKS .Lil gun powder 10.5 for OH with A 185 gr. Hudson. 12.0 for a 207/205 gr. for  BR.
I also shoot the 25 WCF with the 120 gr Moss....

Thanks Tom, I thought back when I talked to Ron it was the max case but that was ,maybe pre 360 dw. Good to know that brain cell still is popping.

Bob, a couple of reasons we changed was, the 357 max brass was hard to get here in Canada at times.
And the 360 DW was more available, didn't have to be trimmed, was a bit heavier, and very consistent in volume and primer pocket size.
So it seemed like the thing to do as some of us renewed brass or started a new rifle.
Still some using trimmed Max Brass...

The shoulder on the 223 reamer gave you a throat that works for breech seating and what is used for a seater?

Most of us use a Russ Weber starter with a sized case threaded on it.
And the bullet will fit inside that case nicely.
The plunger is set to the desired seating depth.
That's basically it.

Bob, as far as chambering goes. Yes we chamber with a .223 reamer for the body of the chamber. And then use a .322 throat reamer with a 2 degree angle.
Depending on the bullet diameter a .3215 throat reamer may be used.
