	The Nickel plated and if so to me it would only be worth the cost of once fired Brass. The Nickel plated 32-40 brass was some of the best brass that I have had for Breech Seating when only using one case. In a Schuetzen Benchrest match or that of a CBA.

	No to the over loads. But... imagine a 32/40 built on a Ballard cast action. The builder knew to keep loads low. The rifle goes down the road and the next owner unknowingly uses factory smokeless loads and boom. Stevens 44's were chambered in 32/40 until the 44 1/2 came out.

	The John Wayne 32-40 collectibles boxes seem to range between $50-75 each. I bought four boxes here of the Forum a few months ago for $200 shipping included.

	Stevens 44's were chambered in 32/40 until the 44 1/2 came out. Even after lugging the hammers, Stevens came to realize that both the .32-40 and .38-55 chamberings were too much for the 44 action, and dropped them even before the 44-1/2 was introduced. Bill Lawrence

	Scharfe you brought up a very valid point! And it would hold true for any brand of modern 32-40 ammunition. Makes one wonder what action might have went boom if it is actually true.

	My guess is that the 44 would probably not immediately blow up if it was in good shape to start with. It would definitely loosen up with continued used and could eventually go boom if you kept abusing it.

I own it and we have discussed it a few times. The guy who pulled the trigger has told me several times that he loaded a factory John Wayne .32-40 round and that's what did the deed.

	I was paying $30-40/box for the factory rounds when I started shooting the caliber about 30 years ago. As soon as that first fresh run of new, unprimed Winchester brass became available from Graf, I pretty much retired the JW stuff. I watched Chuck Blender shoot a batch of it until the nickel was wearing through. It was obviously quality brass. Somewhere in my stashes of stuff is a complete factory box... I guess I’ll have to dig them out. Froggie

	When I bought a used 32-40 CPA, it came with RCBS 32-40 Cowboy dies and 5 boxes of the John Wayne’s … good deal

	Thanks Waterman and it is truly unfortunate there is a not a better means to educate folks on these older built firearms. Probably even more so with the newer ones. Some folks are hell bound on getting more velocity than they could actually safely use when reloading their own.

	Waterman I have not heard of them being overloaded but I did shoot a few years ago and they are HOT. I would not put them through a Ballard I put mint through a CPA. 40 Rod
