Remington #2 sight adapter plate

While at the Quigley visiting with JC of MVA we were discussing the adapter plates he makes for the #2 rolling block upper tang. This adapter allows mounting a traditional straight based tang sight on the concave curvature of the #2 upper tang. The adapter has allowed me to mount MVA and Lyman tang sights on several of my later model #2 rifles. Jim has a good supply of them in inventory. If this is something you are in need of call Cheryl at MVA for the current price. They are quite reasonable.

Very interesting. Please post a photo of the adapter on your #2.  Thanks.

As soon as I return to the shop I post some photos of the adapter installed and by itself for reference.

Yes! I've made a base for one and still have another to do, not my idea of a good time so I'll be in line for one.
Thanks SSS for sharing that bit of info.

I've got a #2 that could use a tang sight.  Please post that picture.

I have tang sights on 3 of my 4 #2 rifles. I know how hard they are to find. A quality adapter would make it much easier.

I just bent the base using my arbor press. The bend is slight, and the sight fit fine when done.

Tweaking tang sight  bases often needed. MVA instructions mention shimming under the base to plumb the staff .

NIB original #2 sight i had was straight as it also fits Hepburn in some calibers. I tweaked it with my bare hands to install on 25-20ss model I had. Instructions in box said to bends slightly for #2. There are pictures on old computer in shop. I posted them here many moons ago. moodyholler

If Val needed an arbor press, and you accomplished same with your bare hands, I will know who to bet on in arm wrestling match.

Arbor press lets you make a controlled  bend. Even better if it presses the part on a formed mandrel .

Not sure if I needed my arbor press, but I use it because it makes projects like this much more accurate. Might have hand bent it, but then again it might not be properly supported to get the correct curve to match.
