Someone could wipe a bit on their barrel about where the bullet sits and see if it melts off the outside during a match.

Thinking about the melting in the throat deal, I wondered if it did melt a bit and slumped to the bottom side of the bullet if it would create an off-balance effect in terms of bullet flight? Probably over-thinking it.

Last time I went to the range I kept my bullets pre-lubed with JSL in the little cooler along with the lemonade and water.

I use to leave my bullets out in the open regardless of temperature and never had lube sloughing off like some other lubes. You had your chance for Alberta Schuetzen Lube Jack - Since I no longer shoot I am not making it anymore. Canadian Team bought up all I had in stock.

Don't try to over think it. Once the bullet is breech seated at the proper seating depth. There is no way for lube to then Per-say melt and flow down to the bottom of the bullet as the lube is now fully contained in each of the lube groove's.

But not with a tapered bullet where a goodly portion of the surface of the bullet is riding on top of the lands.

I'm under cover when breech seating bullets so the barrel never gets hot enough to turn the lube to liquid. I'm assuming.

I picked up a couple of small coolers.  Now to decide, beer or bullets?   Bullets or beer?

A good test would be to use a casting thermometer in the lubes double boiler pot. To find out what the actual temperature is for lubes melting point.

I just checked the forecast for Tumtum WA, which is only a couple of miles from the Strs and Stripes range.

WE are going to need bigger coolers!

150 quart Igloo cooler:

150 beers + ice for 7 days
Should last awhile without the Canadians being present.
