E Remington and Sons Company was sold in the New York bankruptcy court in 1888 so the rifle was manufactured between 1873 and that date, probably more like 1886.
The tang sight was named the Graduated Tang Peep by Remington. It most often appears on the Hepburn, #1 and #1 1/2 Sporting models.
