I got word from a friend that John Del Savio has passed away. John was a very dear friend who I communicated with quite allot with at times and he will be missed. John was a real gentleman who loved his competitive shooting and I believe it was with the NY group.
Rest in peace my friend until we meet again you were one who touched my own life.

Actually its pretty sad that his own group of shooter's failed to give him the respect that he actually deserves. I waited quite sometime for them to bring it up but they simply did not. So being such a close friend I brought it upon myself to pay my own respect on his own behalf.

John shot with us at Wilton nearly every week, he was a very knowledgeable shooter, mentored a few of our members, and was extremely nice, we miss him

John was a good friend, a good shooter and most importantly a good, kind, compassionate man. He wrote and published a brief history of the Pinetree Rifle club, the home of modern benchrest shooting and my signed copy is something I will always cherish. There was a well attended memorial service for John at the Pinetree club in Johnstown, NY and we all shared our favorite stories about John. It always made my day when John and some of the guys from Wilton made a road trip to my gunshop in Vermont. I hope that those of you who knew him will take some small measure of comfort knowing that he spent his last day doing what he loved most - shooting with his buddies. He went home and later that night died of a heart attack. John is gone but he will never, ever be forgotten.
