	Anyone have knowledge of this type of Marlin-Ballard. (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links) And would be sensible to reline it to say a 32-40 or 38-55? I have read several posting that seem to indicate this was not a factory option.

	On the assumption that "44 W" means "44 Winchester" - i.e., .44-40 - perhaps the Ballard was modified to shoot the .44 Game Getter shot shell. After all, the Stevens Marksman was renamed the 101 and factory-chambered for that shell, as was the Marbles over-under rifle-shotgun with the folding stock. Bill Lawrence

	The gun is a #2 Ballard in .44-40, and someone bored it smooth to shoot shot shells. As a #2 it's a cast action, and not suitable to reline to centerfire rifle cartridges. It actually was pretty marginal to shoot many smokeless .44-40, and Marlin dropped the caliber before smokeless .44-40's even hit the market. It would be best to reline it to shoot something smaller like mild loads of .32 S&W Long, or .32 Long. A little over priced for a cast #2 needing reline.

	Vall, is there any chance that it rolled out as a 44-40 XL smoothbore?
