Picked up an unusual small framed Martini in 44/40 which has the brand name "Zeller". It is very unusual because it has an exposed self cocking hammer. I believe these rook rifles were made in Germany.

You might find proof marks on it that narrow the era it was built in, and that rifle may end up having English ties? Maybe, more than the hammer, the configuration of the action to allow the one piece stock is a unique feature of that Zeller. Nice lines.

I'm jealous, I want it. Even though the condition isn't the best that is a very nice rifle.

Me too! Especially if it was in 360! But they should have called it a Peabody-Zeller? Is that hammer striking a long firing pin? Or is that hammer working like a set trigger kick off and releasing the sear on a striker? More photos, please.

it is Belgian. Not uncommon here in the Uk---we have two in our club, I think in380 long.

For once I agree with westerner; very, very nice lines!  Also, it's the first time I've seen a centrally-hung hammer combined with a Martini-style block.
