Online seller claims the 414 receiver sight was made by Lyman.

Can anybody confirm?  I'm skeptical.

I’ll look at mine later today to see if it was stamped Lyman, but I think they were made by Stevens.

I took a look at my receiver sight on my 414. It is only stamped with a number 94 on the inside of the sight. If Lyman made the receiver sight, I think the Stevens catalogs would say so and they do not. Who made them? I still think Stevens did but I am not sure.

I just pulled my original Stevens Walnut Hill brochure. It refers to it as a  Lyman 144 tang sight.

In a careful reading of Phil Sharpe's book he refers to it as a "custom Lyman sight".

The OP's reference is to a receiver sight, not a tang sight.

Right.

The Sharpe reference was in re the receiver sight on the 414, not the 417, though.
