What's the width of the insert below the cut (where it's smaller) and the height?

That insert doesn’t look like the ones I have seen in sights with that style retainer.  The ones I am used to have a little “tail” on each side of the bottom, and when you want to change them you pull the slide that holds the spirit level back and lift out the insert... reassemble by reversing the process.  The inserts like the one pictured are held in place either by a flat spring on top of the globe or by a screw in piece that holds it in by friction.

What is holding your insert in place if you turn the rifle sideways?
