I believe that Talley makes a base for them, and Browning uses it as their mount. Leupold used to and I think still does make bases for the 1885 octagon barrels. I also would contact Browning. I may have a set, but will have to look this afternoon and will let you know. The ones that I would have are two piece, and the one that Talley makes is a rib type one piece.

Are you talking about for a modern scope or possibly a externally adjustable mounted scope such as a Unertl Target scope or others of like kind..

I also need to scope my B / M  1885  l w  ob.    Does anyone make scope bases that use the dovetail normally used for the iron sight ?
I am talking about a 1/2"w x 1" or 2"l x 1/4" h  platform that could be d & t  to mount flat-bottom Weaver / Unertl / etc  bases for the front scope mount.     It could be d / t at the proper location to use a #10-32 set screw to lock it in the dovetail slot.
The top of the receiver could be d / t for mounting the rear scope base.
Also, anyone know the radius of the top of the receiver in order to find a matching scope base ?

I use Weaver #11 and #29 bases on my Browning highwall and Browning 78s
I put a titanium spacer under the front base to get height alignment of bases
NOTE: the screws that come with the front base probably will be too short if you use a spacer. Your local gun shop may have screws slightly longer than the factory screws.

I would think you could find a front base thick enough so it would not be necessary to use a shim, but you would have to sort through a bunch to find it. I have a bunch, so if you want to send the thickness needed, I will make a go of it.  Krag

bg7m is right on the Weaver #11 and #29. No shims needed out to 200 meters with 22RF. Used with Lyman quick release rings in order to shoot both iron sights and scope in steel buffalo shoot. GEE
