I'm not sure, but I had to sort thru a lot of blanks to find them.  Had to make absolutely sure no one stock would be better than the others, didn't want to create any drama.

Phil— keeping those grandchildren happy is the burden we cherish! I’ve restored several different rifles for some of ours. More in the works! Now the great grandchildren are coming along!

I have a solid frame No. 4 in .32RF. The upper tang is tapped and has what appears original screws. Were all the No.4 upper tangs D&T? The trigger pull appears to be lighten some. Make me wonder if it is a target model.

I would certainly agree that finding a solid frame, threaded #4 action would be indeed difficult, and more expensive. They rarely show up as solid frame versions.

Aaron, I guess they all came from the factory D&T.

I would guess they did, but haven't paid enough attention to them to say for sure.

Having gotten my .32 RF solid frame sorted out, I started looking for a .22.  Over $400 asking for takedowns, haven't seen another solid frame yet.  Got a takedown .22 already.  Don't think much of the arrangement, but I'll have a go at fixing it, before I invest in lining the barrel.  The gun is ratty enough that I wouldn't be above simply soldering the barrel in place, or using solid taper pins like some 'smiths have done with Hopkins & Allens for a semi-permanent solution.

Speaking of which, even the H&A boys' rifles that I used to get for $100 are getting up there.

N.B. As much as a Stevens partisan as I am, I have to admit that the little Remington is better metal and more precisely machined.   Smiley

About 25 years ago I soldered a loose #4 takedown barrel into the receiver and converted it to centerfire. It's my son's now, but I keep him supplied with 32 Colt ammunition. It's still going strong.

Before I go too far, I want to see if the #4 will fire these .25 Stevens rimfire cases I make from .17 WSM.  Maybe make a rough barrel stub to prove the concept.  The rims are tough, no other boys' rifle I have will fire them.  The #4 might.  If it does, then I'll make a .25 barrel for it, and have only #4 in existence that is chambered for the Stevens cartridge.   Cool

Saw a #4 at the Gun Show today. $500 was the asking price, not a takedown, in .32rf.  Someone had Polished and Blued it.  You know how that goes, rounded corners and dished screw holes.  Sad to see.  David

Fortunately mine is original with honest wear. I will try to get a photo up soon.
