	Aside from the traditional single-shot rifles with barrels by known makers, I have also picked up a few Stevens Tip Up pistols with barrels by the same barrel makers. This pistol started life as a Stevens Model 40 (I believe) and somewhere in its history was re-barreled by A.W. Peterson and so marked. The method he used is similar to the monoblock we see on Maynard Model 1882 sporting rifles. He cut the barrel just ahead of the octagonal section, bored a hole through the same section and then sleeved it with his own .22 barrel and contoured the new barrel to match the original. You can see the line where they meet in the last photo.

	... and here's the growing collection. Top-to-Bottom: - Stevens Model 40 with A.W. Peterson barrel - Stevens Lord Model with A.O. Niender barrel - Custom Stevens-type by John Gillette (Classic Guns, Inc, Crete Illinois) - Stevens Model 35 with section of original Stevens Pope barrel All of the pistols are chambered for .22 LR.

	Very cool, and unusual pistols Joe! I've never seen Stevens pistols with custom fitted barrels by any famous maker! Wonder why Peterson made his transition where he did vs. making it at the transition to octagon where it would not be as visible?
