It's a #1 1/2 action, not a #1 action. Smooth side, and equal length tangs. Also rotary extractor that a #1 Sporting never had.

How can you tell it is a #1 1/2?  I have what I believe to be a #2 that looks identical to the parts shown.  Thanks

You don’t have a number 2 if it looks like the one shown.  The number 2 has a curved angled rear frame.  Very different from the one above.  This is a 2 below.

Internally the #1 and #1 1/2 share most all parts from same era guns. The big difference is a #1 1/2 is flat side, octagon sporting rifle, and the #1 sporting rifle is a stepped receiver with octagon top, except for the earliest that were round top.
The other difference between #1 and #1 1/2 sporting receivers is the lower tang. The #1 has a longer lower tang, where the #1 1/2 has equal length tangs.
Both #1 and #1 1/2 sporting actions have narrower, thinner tangs, than #1 military receivers have.
