Fairly unusual. Most I've seen were half octagon, regardless of whether they were Remington, Sharps, or Ballard. 

Roy Marcot's great book on the Sporting rifles shows a couple full octagon barrels, and 3 or 4 full round, and I think two of the full round have Rigby flats. The rest are all half octagons.
