This rifle started life as a barreled action in the white from C Sharps. I delivered it to Steve Durren at Johnson's Gun Shop in Adrian, MI and asked him if he could refine the action by profiling it closer to a Borchardt action. We decided to add Rigby flats and if you're going to do that, you may as well add a keyed forearm. The forend tip and buttplate are horn. The wood is circassian walnut. The sights come from our very own Tony Maddox.

In the end, Steve profiled the action closer to a Zischang Borchardt, He took over 1-1/2 lbs of metal off the barreled action.

I am attaching photos of the rifle in various stages of completion. The "after" photos could be better but give you some idea.

I'm sure they would sell a lot more 75s if they made them like that beautiful rifle.

Nice catch Dale. The original length of the tangs "felt" too long. There wasn't much room to shorten the tangs with the double-set triggers so we opted for the original single trigger.

The rifle now has a 34" barrel and is chambered for .45-90 caliber.

That is a gorgeous rifle!  Many have reserved opinions of the 75 but after the way my first and only C-Sharps '75 holds and shoots, they've won me over - think there's another in the budget... .  You have intentions of shooting this in some of the LR competitions?  I'm planning to make a few more shoots this coming year, possibly one or two out your direction.

I had the opportunity to meet Steve at the January Dallas Safari Club show. He was working on another nice rifle there, very nice guy and talented.

The two of you have turned that action into a rifle C Sharps would be well advised to produce.  Congratulations on your vision and his skill in interpretation and execution.

This rifle is a custom, probably a one off that very few can afford? If CSharps didn't offer the basic action, maybe it never would have been? Worse, a factory could reprogram their cnc machinery and crank out 80% long range prototype facsimilies for a small fraction of what appears to be a fair ammount of hand work?

Sharps would make much money if they had to keep up with the custom rifles that Steven Durren builds.  CSA guns are ok, but they have nothing like the attention to detail that his rifles have.  He built me a highwall on one of their actions and it's a superb piece of work.  It was way more expensive, but worth every penny .

The guys at CSA don't seem to be interested in building much more than their basic offerings. I once asked them why they didn't offer a double set trigger in their highwalls and they told me it wasn't worth the effort as they probably wouldn't sell.
