All of the original Winchester barrels should be sixteen twist. Mine has always shot bullets up to about 200 grains pretty well- stability wise. Sometimes the accuracy was iffy.
I shot that same Lee bullet with good results as well. With and without the checks. I disliked the mold though.
And, I have about 8,000 gas checks if anybody really, really needs some.

I shoot the Lee 8mm bullet with and without the gc. Accuracy seems about the same either way.

Mike Graf sold the business this month.  New owner is a young couple and renamed it Full Circle.  Good people to carry on the business.  The "junk pile" isn't advertised on the website.

I could be off on my measurement of the twist.  By actual measurement I got  one turn in 16 3/4 inches, but it could be a 16 as it is pretty hard to eyeball the mark on the rod exactly, and there is always the possibility of the patch clipping slightly.

If I find that it shoots I will invest in a mould from Accurate Moulds.   I have several of their moulds and they are good.  I haven't had much success with Lee products.  You get what  you pay for.  I will say that I've never tried any of their moulds though.

I have a Barnett mold that throws a 200gr .326 bullet. If you might to try a few, PM with your address. Mr. Barnett made it for a rebored Stevens 3240.

Another option might be to buy some swagged bullets from Dave Bennett of the sizes you want to try.

A good mate of mine gave me a heap of Saeco 190 grain gas checked 8mm bullets sized to .3225 (groove size .321 1 IN 16 twist) which shoot very well in my 32-40 Mirouku Winchester 1885 High Wall, probably because the nose diameter is .315 which bore ride beautifully in my bore size. These are too long for the Model 94 to cycle, my High Wall also shoots the LEE 170 grain 8mm resized to .3225 great as well. The 8mm bullets will probably work OK for George Babits the original poster.

That's all fin and dandy with a rifle that needs the smaller bullet, but mine is more like .325, not .3225.   Big difference.

Also,  I want to thank all the people who have sent bullets.

I received boxes from Kurt and Dale in today's mail and will be sending checks for the postage.  Now I can see if this rifle will shoot straight.

Keep yer powder dry,
George

Sorry, George, I meant to say that the 8mm cast should work in your High Wall.

Try the inexpensive 180 grain 8mm coated gas-checked bullets from Quality Cast Bullets.  The bullet is sized at .323 and the gas check measures .324. It should obdurate and seal your bore.  Given the price they would be worth a try.  These shoot very will in my 32-40.

I've never one to go the cheap route.   Got some really good bullets from members to try and have ordered a mould from Accurate Moulds that is close to one of the ones I got which shoots well.   Given that at the moment 32 caliber gas checks are not only expensive but  unobtanium,  I'd just as soon not get a gas check design.
